POST-RECORDING INTERVIEW WITH STEVE ADAMYK

[DD] What’s your drink of choice?

[SA] We’ve always been very much a beer band. We dabble in it all when served, but at the end of the day, y’know… beers.

[DD] This session was different from all other Drunk Dials in that it happened spontaneously. What made you decide to record at all that day?

[SA] We had actually been working on a recording for another project and everything was already set up. Dave (Forcier) had been forced to return to Canada during a section of COVID, so we had a lot of time on our hands. We had been hanging for the weekend and just got silly.

[DD] Why did you choose to cover “Do You Wanna Know” and re-record “Slip Away”?

[SA] In honesty, we had been going through covers and trying to convince each other of what to butcher, but we had a hard time agreeing on each of our decisions. These were two that we could each back easily.

[DD] Do you prefer playing music sober or buzzed?

[SA] A complex question! Recording, definitely sober. Live, buzzed or worse, but can be sober. Touring at length, once the train has left the station, it’s hard to get off. It’s odd; even though alcohol has been clinically proven to worsen your voice, often on tour I’ll start to lose it, but after having 6-odd beers and really pushing it on stage for the first few songs, it miraculously improves… much more so than stretching it/doing it sober.

[DD] What is the best cover song of all time?

[SA] In high school, I would have said A New England by The Groovie Ghoulies. Now… I’m not sure!

[DD] It’s closing time at a bar full of your friends, there’s only time to play one more song on the jukebox. What do you play?

[SA] We’re Coming Back by Cocksparrer.
