POST-RECORDING INTERVIEW WITH MIKE WIEBE OF DRAKULAS

[DD] What’s your drink of choice?

[MW] Vodka soda or whatever is offered to me for free.

[DD] Drunk Dial prohibits writing or rehearsing the cover before going into the studio, but did you prepare for the day of recording in any other way?

[MW] We watched golden age porn on VHS first thing in the morning in order to get into the mojo of the whole thing.

[DD] Did you have any specific fears going into the studio? What ended up being the most difficult part?

[MW] Only the fear that it would be too good.

[DD] Why did you choose to cover “Three Sisters” by The Jim Carroll Band?

[MW] It fit our vibe pretty well. Also the desire to spread more Jim Carroll besides People Who Have Died (which is a great song but he has other hits).

[DD] Do you prefer playing music sober or buzzed?

[MW] I like a cocktail or a few… Just something to loosen the pipes up.

[DD] What is the best cover song of all time?

[MW] Devo doing Satisfaction. They completely reimagined one of the most famous songs in rock music and made it just as good.

[DD] It’s closing time at a bar full of your friends, there’s only time to play one more song on the jukebox. What do you play?

[MW] Elvira by the Oakridge Boys. It sets a good tone to shuffle out into the night.
